It was the early hours of March 31st 2011, when a devastating blaze broke out in the historic Market Inn, in Salisbury's Market Square, which then spread to the Charter 1227 Restaurant.
We are delighted to announce that Charter 1227 is now raised like a Phoenix from the Ashes, and the popular restaurant is re-opening in early May and introducing an exciting Sunday-Lunch venture, also special lunches, early pre-theatre and fresh seasonal a la carte menus. History of the Charter ... The name of Danny’s Restaurant, Charter 1227, refers to when King Henry III granted the Bishop of Salisbury Charters for holding regular fairs and markets in 1227, 7 years after the building of the new Salisbury Cathedral commenced. The markets have continued virtually uninterrupted to the present day and every October the Market Square hosts the historical Charter Fair.
